Hehe.... I'm "working" on (when I can find time...) new background, new logo, and new page setup for new links.

If anyone has ideas for a new logo/banner, feel free to send them on over! No need to use anything that's already there.... new, fresh ideas needed/wanted.

I actually plan on re-designing the whole page... I've got a few ideas I wanna try out, but I spent most of the time trying to get the Cascading Style Sheets to format the links just right (the "Message Forum" link is how it looks on mouse over). Gotta keep the html skillz going

Looks good so far.... I like how the image at the top is different each time.

What goes in the big white space? Whatever I want? News items, etc.? Could it be framed, so the black menu bar doesn't move as you scroll?

Yes, the big white space is for news items/announcements, e.g. GT Parties, Server down-time, whatever you want, really.

I wasn't planning on making it use frames, but I could... it would also be nice to have the navigation menu not scroll , and using frames would do that.

The Navigation Menu was originally going to be an image rollover powered by JavaScript, but my JS skills are lacking. I haven't made a website in like 3 years - I've forgotten a lot.

The design isn't as polished as I like, a result of not having done this in a VERY long time, but I'm still working on it...

I've also thought about maybe laying out the navigation across the top of the page below the logo, instead of down the left side. What do you think?

Santiago - I liked all the links along the right side only, but overall the changes look good. IF implemented, could the colors of the message board be changed to something less colorful, like just black and white? or White on black?

I'm rather confused by this statement - there should be links running down both sides of the page. Home Page, Forum Resources, and GTRC Links on the left; Our Friends, Racing News, and Automotive Sites down the right. The links have the same design on both sides, so if you could clarify, I'd appreciate it.

You think I used to many colors? I only used white, black, red, and blue...

The forum could be changed to just white text on black background (to match my beta site), but then you'd probably have to use a third color for the links.

The only thing about doing all the links down the left is that they wouldn't all fit without scrolling (at least not on my screen), and that defeats the purpose of using the frames.

This is GB's call, and his alone. I was just doing this to occupy time and get some ideas flowing around. If GB wants to use it, he's welcome to it. If not, that's fine... no loss for me.

Well, I changed it to black text on a light grey background, but I don't think it looks as good.
http://santiago22.efflixi.com/gtbn_v4/images/blackongrey.jpg

I didn't actually change the pages on the server, just in case you guys didn't like the changes.

ricker: I also moved all the links over to the left side. You can see that on my screen, not all the links appear, and you have to scroll. I disabled the scrollbar on that frame 'cause scrollbars in the middle of the page look ugly.

Comments?

Okay, then.

I'm gonna try to work out that links list to get it to fit on my screen. What screen resolutions do you guys run? I run 1024x768, but my taskbar is 2 lines and I have a quick launch bar on top that's also two lines. I set them both to one line temporarily and the links still don't fit...

Haven't found any action shots of the Z06 or the C5R online. If you've got any, let me know. <- open to anyone that finds them.

We need more American Iron on that logo... the Viper GTS-R just isn't quite enough...

SOLUTION!! - Break apart the links into sections, and place them on different pages!

Also added a section to link to the websites of the different OLR teams here, if you all want to use it

Updated: http://santiago22.efflixi.com/gtbn_v4/indexframes.html

I'll admit it: at first I hated the grey, but it's starting to grow on me

Fixed it a few days ago, but forgot to post.

It still loads in frames but it's a lot closer to the current design. I set up the frames so you could still access the main site.

How about a <NOSCRIPT> container in at least http://santiago22.efflixi.com/gtbn_v4/top.html

E.g.

<NOSCRIPT>

But overall, I really like the simplicity, elegance, compact presentation of a large number of links, speed of loading and rendering, and natural inherent readability of the current

It really is one of the best "gateway pages" I've seen.

Just center that banner a bit more

I really prefer the concept over the current page. Both are fairly simple and easy to navigate but the concept seems fresher to me.

Uhhhh, what for?

I can't do that 'cause it hide the logo/masthead. That picture is actually one of 7 loaded by a random-image generating JavaScript. If I use NOSCRIPT around that, well, the script doesn't run and you get an empty frame.

True, the current page does seem to load faster inspite of downloading more. My concept doesn't use background images, and the logo is smaller (by pixels and kbytes). Probably due to the loading/processing of the logo JavaScript on my version.

My designs tend to emphasize form as well as content, while the current seems to be designed/styled for 90% content / 10% form.

You and your centered banners...

Well, I designed the concept to be fresher... the current page just looks dated... hasn't been updated in nearly a year... do we really need a link to Spot Race XV anymore?

(btw, I centered the banner, you nut )

It's a nice logo, but I was thinking about how when we pooled together some funds and sponsored a race team in the 24 Hours of LeMans earlier this year (this was before you joined here), there was concern about us putting the site logo on the car because it incorporates the official GT logo, which is copyrighted, and not by us = copyright infringement.

I think we should have a logo that doesn't infringe anyone's copyrights, should we sponsor a race team again.
