Yeah that's true. Then how about a Blue G and Red T on the left to complement the 4 on the right, as in GT4?

For paranoid people who run with JavaScript disabled, who currently do get an empty frame.

Don't put <NOSCRIPT> around everything; put it in a container beside the <SCRIPT> (I.e. assume everything inside <SCRIPT> containers will be invisible to those who see the <NOSCRIPT>).

The stuff inside <NOSCRIPT> container will be totally ignored if JavaScript is on, and so will have no more effect on the page than would a couple of empty source lines.

I get dizzy reading the whole Title frame... The letters seem to all blend together. Especially "The Internet's Premiere..."

So you mean do something like this:

< script language=javascript >
// Loads a random logo pic
blah blah blah
< /script >

< noscript >
< img src='images/gtbn_logo1.jpg' width='542' height='109' alt='Gran Turismo By Numbers - Volume 4' border='0' >
< /noscript >

... so people with JS enabled see the random pic and people that run JS off see a static one? Am I getting that right?

Yeah, I noticed that... I think I'm going to change the font there... think it's an issue with Photoshop's anti-aliasing routines.

S22, thanks for your work on this.... however, I think you're finding out why 'design by committee' doesn't work.

I liked it better with black, personally.

And although many people think it's intrusive, I like it when the forum opens in a new window.... that way you can easily click back to the 'gateway' page to go somewhere else. I'm not a fan of too many things opening within the frame.... I just thought if we used the center section for news and things, it could have it's own scroll bar while leaving the rest of the links in one place.

But really, everybody likes things a bit different. Design it the way YOU think it ought to be, James.... if you go by democracy, it will NEVER be right.

LOL GB!

I actually put the forum in a frame using the same browser window because I personally find it kind of cumbersome and annoying to have to switch windows when both are on the same site... if I'm reading the forum, I'm usually not reading anything else on the site... seems kind of redundant to me. Plus, fewer taskbar icons = win

You dork, I spent like an hour and a half changing it to dark text on a light grey background, and now you tell me it's not what you wanted?! That's it! My next update, I'm coding a page that will read your forum cookie and give you huge pink text on a lime green background! MUHAHAHHAHAHA

(just kidding )

Wow... amazing how someone can set themselves on a project and be all gung-ho about it for 3 weeks and then just completely forget the project exists.

I still want to finish this, if only for the purpose of finishing - I have a bad habit of starting projects, but never seeing them through to completion. So, with that in mind...

To Do List:
==================================================
1. Design new logo (see end of page 1)
2. Implement NOSCRIPT per SportWagon's suggestion
3. Adjust slogan text on logo (Verdana 10pt bold italic maybe?)
4. Change colors BACK to light text on black background because *I* think that looks better than dark on grey
5. ...
6. Profit? Ummm... an unspecified amount of lost sleep?

I did one. I don't know if it'd look good at the top of the page though, might need to resize stuff. if you want to see it, post your email.

Mail received... that's actually really good...

I was needing a logo that could potentially replace the one we currently have here on the forums...

If you could e-mail me the font (or tell me what it's called), I'd appreciate it.

I'd probably change the car, though - want to have something that's actually in GT.

Thanks much, Gunner.

I'm looking for some GT3 pics of some good-ol' American Muscle... like, Corvette, Viper, Shelby Cobra, etc... too many imports (Japanese, specifically) on the current design.

With my limited input, Gilles27 came up with a bio page for individual drivers... if I remember to, I'll actually put one together, and load it to the site, then give you the URL so you can look at it and see what you think, James.

In complete opposition to my preference for white numbers on a black background in my car, my reading preference is for dark text on a light background.

Actually, I just switched it back to dark text on light background, and tweaked a few other things (mainly the news page layout), and I think it's quite possibly the best layout/scheme so far since I started this project.

Comments?

As I said before, it is IMPOSSIBLE to design by committee.... do what you KNOW is best, James.

Also, Gilles did a Bio templete many moons ago for me... I just never got around to making the pages for everyone.
http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/Bios/gilles27_bio.htm

He even did a cool "Photo Not Available" thing for those people who, uh, no photo is available for. A quick adjustment of the colors to the new theme, and the NEW Bio pages templete is done. I envisioned a simple page of text links of the members names in alphabetical order and you click on them to take you to their Bio, like G27's above.

That's just the problem, Glenn - I don't know which scheme is best. That's why this is about the 37,890,572,894,592,646,892,374,932,798,479th time I've switched the colors. Fortunately, I'm feeling really good about the look right now, so it might actually stay like that .

Bio Page looks good... I can convert that pretty quickly .

I like this verion, black on grey.

I noticed though, "Volume 4" seems a bit light compared to the other links on the left side. (or even the blue block within the same graphic?). Perhaps that should be corrected for continuity?

I really like the spot race histories (although it reminded me, it seems all my OL wins come in F1 cars )

The "Volume 4" is intended to be a bit lighter than the link color - due to Photoshop's anti-aliasing, the text comes out a bit clearer with a slightly lighter color. It is, however, the exact color of the blue block in the same image.

Sadly, the Spot Race histories take a *very* long time to compose, and as a result, this portion of the project may be scrapped entirely. Each one takes approximately 20 minutes to half and hour, and I still have more than 60 races left to get through. That's a minimum of 20 hours of composing for just that section. By comparison, it took me only about 5 to 6 minutes to convert Gilles27's bio page, and there is *far* less data that needs to be changed for each page to do the bios.

It dosent look that bad, although I imagine it is a lot of data imput. That said, if you're looking to outsource, I am a college student, who should have plenty of time to plug data into a template. (with enough html experience to make those small changes that would be needed inbetween the differnet spots)
