Hey-lo all. I was a little too shy to start my own topic, so I'll just do my hello here.

Who: Lucas / Luke (Mom was in love with Paul Newman, and my Dad's last name is Jackson)
When, begining: April 1, 1982
When, conclusion: Close, but not quite
Where: Colorado State University Student studying Engineering Science and Liberal Arts, soon to apply for Grad school in Preformance Engineering
Why: I want to do soemthing in the automotive industry
How: Driving. No seriously, I deliever Pizza (get the door, it's Domino's) to the NE section of Ft. Collins
What: Pretty sure that I'm not all that different from any of you. Hobbies include being generally silly, PS2/GC, sitting at the computer writing term papers, reading, running, driving, Bass (no, not like the fish [as the theme may be] but the musical insturment similar to the guitar, not a stand up bass) and well I'll try just about anything, once.
Leftovers: I'm not married, I'm not single ; Got started in GT with the first installment on the PSX; found this board soon after, just now signed up. *shrug*

Well I think that about does it. See ya around.

Hello L-U, and welcome to the Numbers.

I'm also a bassist , and so is NoQuarter, who pokes his head in from time-to-time.

Suppose I should get around to posting my own BIo one of these days...

My name is Ryan. Born and raised in Maple Grove, Minnesota, USA. Never lived anywhere else except one college year where I was in Wisconsin. If you're curious about where the screen name came from, check here.

I'm 27 years young. My birthday's July 5th, 1976; I was supposed to be born July 4th (bicentennial firecracker), but I was a dud. I'm a divorced, single parent of 7-year-old boy (8 in January)- his mom wasn't the one I married, and he hasn't seen his mom for almost 6 years now (long story on her related to drugs & crime)... I got divorced cuz my ex physically and emotionally abused my son (long story on her as well for a different day).

I work as a Senior Customer Service Rep in an awards call center for Carlson Marketing Group, taking supervisor/escalated calls, and training the rest of the staff.
What's Carlson Marketing Group? We're part of a privately-owned company, Carlson Companies, that owns such brands as T.G.I.Fridays, Radisson, Country Inns & Suites, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, etc.
I went to school to become an Oracle Database Administrator, but it's very hard to land a job as a DBA "off the street." So I've saved my call center a lot of money in would-be calls to TAC. Hopefully someday soon, I'll migrate to the right department.

My hobbies include PS2 (of course), weightlifting, jogging, watching WWE wrestling, following Minnesota sports teams, playing bass guitar for my church band, singing in my church's choir, and watching my son grow into a man (scary how many flashbacks that brings!).

I bought GT3 in 2002 cuz it was a Greatest Hits game and had heard my friends rave about the series. I played it to 97%, and then I got Final Fantasy X so I put GT3 down for 6 months or so.

While on GameFAQs.com looking for help on FFX, I stumbled across the GT3 board there. I ran some OLR there starting in June '03, winning 4 races. At FAQs I saw GT3mich, jimeez, NoQuarter, ghost_sgt, and others talking about '#s', so I went to Excite and searched for GT3mich and found this.

So that's how I ended up here. Like many of you, I browsed for a month or two before signing up. After all the n00b questions at GameFAQs (click here if you're curious what I mean) and mostly childish 12-16 yr olds, Numbers is like a GT3 Utopia for me. I'm nearing 700 posts in about 2 months, so maybe one day I'll catch GT3mich.

Now I'm a proud member of Asphalt Kannibals who's looking forward to tearing up the track in GTRC!

'Spose I should say somethign.

Name: Bob
Age: 25
Single to the max
Employment: boy that's hard to explain...basically I fix stuff in Nuclear power plants
Not to horrible at GT, though I haven't played in quite a while.
Mainly I spend free time working on real vehicles. I've owned some pretty neat cars in the past, including: a 69 Camaro (that was either a very odd Z/28 or a COPO), a 77 CJ-5 with a 350 Chevy swap, and fun but slow 88 Firebird Formula.
Currently my stable consists of a disreputable 74 Chevy C/20 that's been in the family since it was ordered, a matched pair of Suzuki GS1000s (in various states of dissasembly), an 82 Chevy K/20 originally a diesel, now with a 383 stroker swapped in, and my pride and joy, an almost completely original 1970 Chevelle.
Other quirks: my bedroom looks like an auto supply place, there's a 454 on my tv stand

Name: Santa Claus...oh wait, that's a different movie ...Dan
Born: March 1, 1966, Jamaica, New York
Status: Married (1989!), 2 sons (11 & 6)
Employment: Branch Manager of a wholesale nursery
Hobbies: Playing hockey (mostly ice, but a little roller), video games (duh!), watching sports
GT experience: Bought GT soon after it was released, bought GT2 and GT3 the days they came out. Never achieved full status in any of them, but I did get all my licenses and all the cars I wanted. Will buy GT4 the day it comes out too. Unfortunately, Madden has taken up most of my gaming life for the last 3 years.
Personal Cars: Currently have a 2000 Z28 as my toy (only because I have to drive a pick-up for work...2003 Chevy S-10). I've put a new air box and a ram air system in the Z, as well as 17" SS wheels. There's a whole lot more I'd like to do if I ever have the cash...til then it's not bad.
Past cars included (in order of appearance):
'65 Mustang
'77 Trans Am
'79 Trans Am
'86 Camaro IROC
'81 Mustang (crappy V6, but I needed it after the IROC was stolen )
'91 Mustang GT convertible

Thanks for the time!

I'm Robert out in the real world, I'm 19 and I'm currently here in Corvallis Oregon at Oregon State university, although I'm also in Portland a lot. It's my second year here studying mechanical engineering.

I used to do some GT online racing, I've probably raced some of you before in EZGT or a couple of other series. I'm not all that good anymore, guess I need to get back into it.

I've got two cars, a 91 Civic Si and an 87 MR2. The Si was my first car, and was totalled by a pickup a few months ago. It's still sitting in the driveway, either it or it's parts will be used in the future

That's pretty much who I am

Quick hello, I guess.

I'm 22. I'm not mild. I live in North London. I earn ducats as a Business Analyst for a Publisher.

I started GT2 OLR [moving onto GT3] in Jan 2001. Got owned, so moved onto PC sims, to still get owned. It's a long, long path, but a victory will be mine, one day.

I own a tarted up Citroen Saxo, as well as a joint-owned Renault 5 GTT. One looks great but isn't very quick. The other is very quick, but doesn't look great.

I like trying to play my guitar, Guiness, breasts, Powerpuff Girls and all sorts of other stuff.

Hello to you all.

Well, this seems as good a place to start as any, heh.

Out here in the real world, I'm known as Kevin. I was born February 21, 1982 up here in Canada (so my parents tell me...I don't remember it at all). I did way too much drugs and too little work at school, and now consequently (after cleaning myself up about five years too late) work at a factory 50+ hours a week to support my new family...My wife, Amanda, and I just celebrated our first wedding anniversary in November, and our beautiful daughter Sydney was born in March.

I have played guitar for the last eight years and am currently playing bass for a local speed-metal band. I only own one PS2 game (go on, guess which one) Due to the hours I work, when I'm off I usually stay up into the late hours of the night (getting up with the little one and allowing the wife some much-needed rest).

My current ride is a 1989 Pontiac Tempest LE with somewhere around 300,000 km on it...cost me only $350 (Canadian!) a year ago and still running, though every day that hole in the fender gets bigger and my muffler gradually gets louder

And to paraphrase p2, yes, it's An*a*esthesia.

------------------
And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable...

Hello Cerbera, and welcome! Care to explain the handle? j/k

Some wicked hardware, that Typhoon - though not quite as quick as a fully modded R32 Skyline, according to the simulation modellers at Polyphony Digital!

I'm guessing Chris/male, Berni/female, not that it matters but just wondered!

So did you buy a PS2 in the end, or are you just buying the nipper GT4 in the hopes of Santa bringing a PS2 next Christmas?

Anyway, welcome aboard Chris - we have a full range of responses to any question you care to ask - from the informative  monologue to the snide retort!

Hello Silinder, and welcome to "the numbers".

Not new to the GT series, but new to GT3, I see from your post on the Tuning thread.

Always good to see a new face (so to speak), especially a PAL.

Suggest you get the missus playing GT3 head-to-head in split screen. You can give her a head start and some "slow car speedup" in the options screen to make her think she's almost as good as you. (Or vice versa! )

Looks like you already started exploring the numbers board, but if you want any pointers, just ask in Flamers or General Discussions as appropriate, or visit the chat thread ">(you'll need to set up the mIRC client first) any evening; there's nearly always someone home.

Anyway, a warm welcome to you.

Hey! This thread refuses to die so I'll give it my own shot:

Name: Duke (not on my birth certificate, but on my business card)
DOB: January 1965 (Petula Clark's "Downtown" was #1 on both sides of the pond)
Occupation: Architect
Marital Status: Happily married nearly 14 years, with 2 daughters currently aged 12 and 8
GT: Never played until I bought PS2/GT3 on the same day after taxes in April 2002. Never Played GT1 or GT2.
Setup: DS2/analog; I have a MoMo wheel and expect I'll love it, but not until I get a decent mount/seat setup
GT Achievements: Very few - 100% completion; working on golds (slowly); prennial OLR backmarker
Other Interests: Many, very few of which I have time for. Prioritiy goes to family life, playing with new and old Macintoshes (need a working IIci on System 7? I can furnish 4 or 5 tomorrow), tinkering with cars, and wishing I was made of money.
Drives: 1995 Neon ACR (American Club Racing) special, mildly tweaked; 1995 Neon Sport, 2.4 DOHC engine swap out of a junkyard Stratus, wife's Q-ship; 2000 Grand Caravan, scenicruiser; 1967 LeMans convertible, 270,000 miles and holding, currently awaiting money for frame-off restoration.
Music: Anything from They Might Be Giants to Nine Inch Nails to George Gershwin to Jimmie Dale Gilmore to Rachmaninoff to Hank Williams to SRV to... but please, no Top 40 of any kind.
Added Junk: Own a decent old Gibson electric that I've totally forgotten how to play; also used to ride motorcycles and fly/sail real and R/C planes and boats; have seen TMBG in concert 9 times so far and can't wait for another chance.

yeah i most definitly turned 16 recently, i started posting here when i was 12 i believe, but it was a different name that i completely forgot about so i signed up with this i have no clue what it means anymore but i found a phone that says V-Tech on it so that might be it.

yeah for my 16th birthday, i got a.....wait for it....... broken thumb. crap. no car. just a crashed race bike. i got that thing new to long ago, Trek 5200, after racing tiatholon racers, (all older than me) after racing (and beating) the captain of my school's cross country team (and the teacher who is the head of it) i was training one day, and i was going about 24, 25 mph, i hit some gravel and my front tire blew out, instant pavement at 25 mph. i lost much of my skin on my knee and elbow, and i broke my thumb. while wating for my ride home, my girlfriend called, i told her i fell, and she laughs at me! i didn't tell her i was covered in blood, but i later called and had to rescedule our plans as i was in the hospital getting my thumb pinned back togethor and my wrist set back again. she seemed a little more concerned, not much, though. she signed my cast, and wrote a message that started as "you idiot!" because i wasnt' wearing a helmet. yeah so i'm typing this with one hand, now.

wow, i typed way too much. i need to get out of the house. i can't use my left hand (exept eating solid foods) and i walk with a limp. even my orchestra teacher turned on me! he calls me 'Gimpy' now. yeah. loads of pain, er, fun.

Actually, that's one of the endearing things about the #'s...it's got a lot of class and covers all ages!

Good luck with the cigs. I quit on about my 40th too. It's been almost 10 yrs and I still miss 'em, but sooo damn glad I quit and stayed quit.

My name is Tony..
I was born 1962 to a German mother and Puerto Rican father in Texas. What a confusing childhood...
I have been married 19 years and have two children.
My son, 10, and daughter, 12, both play GT3 with me. As a matter of fact we especially like the endurance races and change drivers during pit stops (like a race team).
I served in the Army and have been a police officer for 21 years. I am a driving and firearms instructor.
I like old cars. I have a 1971 Triumph TR6 which has a monster engine! I do all of my own work and built this one pretty hot but still streetable.
I also like motorcycles. I have a 2002Yamaha Warrior which I have mildly tuned. And I have a 1973 Honda 750-4 chopper.

I live just off of Tampa Bay and only several miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I also never eat fish.....

Chprcop, we should get together with my bro Pariah for sometime for some iLink...

You and Pariah could swap Army/LEO stories, as well

Bump!

New game, new faces, I'm hardly ever around anymore, etc., etc.....

Anyway, thought I'd try to keep the old bio tradition going

I'm almost embarrased to admit it but I've actually bought GT4 and have yet to play it

Got involved with Morrowind and just couldn't seem to get away. Lately, however, my dusty, forlorn GT wheel has been calling me...

cya around folks!

I'm a 20 year old who has been playing the GT series since..well, GT. I was born and raised on the southside of Chicago (Evergreen Park to be exact), to a father who is in love with Corvettes and racing. Because of him, I had the pleasure of growing up watching races at Road America, having Slot Cars, and a never ending supply of Hot Wheels.

I myself am an avid fan of Champ Car, F1, and ALMS. I try to make it to a race at least once a year; think this year is going to be a repeat of last with a trip to Milwaukee for the Champ Car race. Also thinking about ALMS at Road America in August.

I'm sure no one else really cares anything about me, so I will drop it right there. If for some reason you DO want to hear my life story, just let me know. I'm great at putting people to sleep

42 tomorrow - which is an appropriate age considering they've finally made a film of the seminal comedy/philosophy series of my teenage era this year.

HHGG rocks  (at least the old radio plays did, can't comment on the film yet).

Have a good B-Day Sukerkin. 42?! I think that officially would make me a 'young punk' compared to you

But be sure to take an extra victory lap tomorrow!
