Hi folks, I was wondering whether anyone could help me............ I have a USB flash memory stick, and wondered whether I could use this to transfer the files between my PS2 and PC using X-Port. Do you have _see_ you're monitor when you are transfering? or can you transfer the data onto my memory stick, then onto PC?? Any help would be appreciated - I havn't bought X-Port just yet.........still considering it for GT4!!! Thanks Rogo ------------------ IP: Logged |

All the devices I've ever seen for file transfer had software to go with it so I don't think the PS2 would see your memory stick. Worst thing you could do is try it and see. IP: Logged |

would it still not see the memory stick plugged into my PS2 even with the X-Port disk in? surely it would do the same as my PC and see it as a mini hard drive?? Thanks for your comments.........keep 'em coming!! Rogo ------------------ IP: Logged |

I don't think a memory stick will work the same way as an Xport, and I'm almost 100% certain that the Xport disc will not work with a stick. I'm not aware of any product that will let you copy files from a memory card to a USB stick. Sorry. IP: Logged |

If it's a guessing game, I am on the 'anti' side. The X-port PS2 disk makes the PS2 behave as a slave, available to be controlled via the USB port by the X-port software on the PC. The memory stick has no way to issue the commands to the PS2. But on teh question of 'seeing' - there is no need to have a PS2 screen or controller in the room where the PC is; you only need the PS2 unit, the X-POrt PS2 disk in the tray, the card in slot 1, a power lead, and the X-Port cable. All the work is done from teh PC screen. p2 IP: Logged |

I would like to know. Can the X-Port works in a normal PS2, without mod chips? Cause i had previous seen in emule the CDS to download, and so if i got an USB cabble i would be abble to transfer the files properly. But i dunno if it will work in a stock PS2, without modchips. IP: Logged |

SHARKPORT HELP!!! I recently had to "Restore" my PC's original software & in so doing had to reload "Sharkport." Now I can't get it to read the memory card & get this message: "USB error connecting to PS2" I have two sharkports & have tried every combination of "Dongles" & cables I can think of with the same result. ANY IDEAS??? Thanx...O.G. IP: Logged |

Did you make sure all the cables are in all the way? The shark nose points to the PS2 end. IP: Logged |

rachaderua asks: Q: Can the X-Port works in a normal PS2, without mod chips? A: Yes. Old Geezer says: Response: Are you connecting the USB cable to the PC and the PS2 BEFORE turning on the PS2? My Xport instructions say you have to connect it before the PS2 is powered on. Try that. If that doesn't work, more suggestions later.

Hi Gil I've had the same error with my X-Port every now and again. It seems to be down to the order things are booted up and connected together (also, if you're running Win '98, it sometimes gets all panicky about USB devices and 'loses'them; unplugging and reconnecting the cable (PC end) can usually sort that out). ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanx All!!! You know the old saying..."If all else fails...READ the instructions!!!" I wasn't getting the USB driver installed properly but all is well again in Sharkport Land! @ Sukerkin..."BOB" here, "GIL" was another WRL Member. Thanx Again..."O.G." Sorry Bob ... got my memory link-lists all scrambled by too much chardonnay - don't ask me how I managed that seeing as how Gil's handle is, er, well, Gil .Glad to hear that you got your hardware wrinkle all smoothed out anyway. When in doubt ... re-instal and tweak (then belt with hammers and swear LOL). ----------- Speaking of the WRL, UB, have you heard anything from Sage or Giles recently? I chat with Duke and Alex now and again (and met up with Famine in RL) and am trying to (subtly) re-awaken interest in a WRL event before GT4 comes out. I think it'd be a nice thing to round out the GT3 era that way. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Sukerkin (edited 01-14-2005).] IP: Logged |

Ok, thans for the answer. I would like also to know in wich sites can i find it. I havenīt ever saw an X-Port before even personally or in any website, and i couldnīt find one to buy neither. So if someone knows a website in wich i could buy it, and that ships to Brazil, that would be great for me, or at least for me to see what the hell is this device. I know that are 2 cds plus an USB cable. Just this. If someone could help me at this, that would be great. IP: Logged |

Help please. Pal users of Xport V2, is your ps2 driver disk Blue? Mine is blue and my seemingly worn out ps2 has decided to not read blue disks anymore. Any trouble with other colours? IP: Logged |

My disk is blue, my playstation is pretty old, but X-Port still works most times. Sometimes it just aborts to USB error when I click mem card; then I restart, give the disk a wipe and make sure it's had plenty time to boot before I fire up the PC + X-Port client. Are you running the PS2 with screen attached? I never do, so have no idea what shows on the screen then X-Port disk does/does not load properly. Maybe someone else can comment. IP: Logged |

Cheers VB and player2, i don`t run the ps2 with screen attached, just wait for the high rpms to kick in and finish and the disk is loaded. The disc load error has gradually worsened to loading only 10% of the tries, now it dosen`t read at all. thanks to VB`s logic its back up to 50%. ![]() speedy recovery to you p2. IP: Logged |
