There are hardtop Miata's in the game! I was going through my cars with no mileage on them and putting in some seat time, when I noticed that particular Miata's (4,250 credit sell price vs. 4,225 credits) have a hard top when you race them.

I have over 1500 days on my original game and over 530 days on my new game (I love my job!) and I just noticed this last week...

It takes 4,592 bolts to hold a car together, and only one nut to scatter it all over the road.

OK here's some more trivia for you ...

1. The street running up the hill at Seattle is called Madison Av. (at least I think it's "Av", it is not quite clear on my screen).

2. The streets crossing it are also all called Madison Av.

3. The only other street names signed are "Kingdome" (several crossings)and "Alaska Trail South" (turning under the elevated section) - unless you know different?

4. The slowest recorded lap at Seattle normal is 15'33.799 by player2 on 2003/10/13

This may be true of the PAL version but it is not true of the NTSC version. I won all winnable cars and was able to also sell all cars. There was no gameshark/sharkport activity on this memory card. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Here's a trivial fact that I just noticed. when you go to your garage and sort your cars by Make, the aren't listed entirely in alphabetical order. Any make that is written in all capital letters is listed before other makes that begin with the same letter but include both capital and lower case letters.

For example, MITSUBISHI is list before Mercedes-Benz, and TOYOTA is listed before Tickford.

It seems all the major Japanese manufacturers are the ones listed in capital letters, so that is probably explains things. But some of the smaller Japanese manufacturers, such as Tommy kaira and Tom's are listed in lower case letters.

Okay, I have way too much time on my hands. Thanks to the good people at MapQuest, I've planned out a scenic tour if you're ever in the Seattle area:

  • Start out on Alaskan Way, due west of the stadium. Head north. The road will bend slightly to the left.
  • Turn right on Marion St., then an immediate right onto the road that runs under rt. 99.
  • Turn left onto Yesler Way, heading east.
  • Another left onto James St. This goes uphill. Don't drive too fast, or you may jump several times.
  • Make a right onto 5th Ave, and follow it as it bends to the right.
  • Right onto S. Washington st.
  • Left onto 3rd Ave., then a left onto Yesler Way again (this time heading West)
  • Make a left onto 2nd Avenue. Watch out, this is a sharp turn.
  • Merge (shallow turn) into 4th Ave. You'll see the round stadium to the right.
  • After the stadium, turn right onto Royal Brougham Way.
  • Drive a chicane-like pattern through the stadium parking lot
  • Back on Royal Brougham, then a sharp right onto that road under Rt. 99, heading north.
  • Make a quick left and right to get back onto Alaskan Way.
  • Repeat. If you need to change your tires, continue straight under Rt. 99

Rotate the Seattle map clockwise and look at this:

    And here's a photo:

I didn't realise but once you lap the field it no longer tells you how far ahead you are at the 'split' points.

Used the info from an old Numberone post to set up a Yaris and lap the field in Pro series on the Test track (mind numbing)

ps surely they wont have 'Test track' races in GT4

I believe they will likely have an enduro for every track, and have heard that all previous Gran Turismo tracks will be included in GT4. So does that mean a test track enduro?

    One lap is an enduro.

    Some useless trivia:

  • Tracks named after streets: 8
  • Tracks named after places: 13
  • Tracks named after geographical features: 11
  • Tracks named after description of the track itself: 4

Do those totals overlap Q? Example: Tokyo R246 is named for a place and a street.

Exactly. And Cote d'Azure I counted as a geographical feature (I think it means Blue Coast in French). If it was Monaco, it would count as a place.

Actually, Babelfish (http://world.altavista.com/) translates "Côte d'Azur" into English as "Riviera." I'm assuming that means the French Riviera, where Monaco is

Blue Coast sounds pretty accurate as well; there's an abstract painting in the hall at my office that says Cote D'Azur, and I was all excited thinkin it was a GT3 track, but when I got closer it just looked like a beach, probably painted nearer to Picasso's time than my own.

I'm sure Sly9 could come straighten it out for us...

Translate "Cote" and then "D'Azur" S22, and you'll get "Coast" and "of Azure" (which is of course a shade of blue).

On the enduro + all gt tracks thing, imagine the joys of an enduro series along these lines:

    Rd1 - 150 Laps Super Speedway
    Rd2 - 70 Laps Test Course
    Rd3 - 100 Laps High Speed Ring
    Rd4 - 100 Laps Test Course Reverse

Actually, with the rumoured inclusion of NASCAR that could be a good chance.
It'd make the pro yaris series look scintillating!

I can take 150 laps on SS. A nascar would would help I guess.

Test Course would be murder however. 600 miles at 200mph= 3hours of doing nothing. A waste of electricity!

He's some minor trivia. I was watching a replay of a run of mine using a Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor, and when the camera switches to the low side view facing forward on the right side of the car (you can see the right front quarter panel and tire) the word "Kompressor" on the side of the car is shown in reverse, as a mirror image.

I suspect that is because when they input the data for the car bodies, they didn't input seperate data for the right and left side of the car. They just input the image of the left side of the car and the image is reversed when they want to show the right side.

But then the writing on the right sides of race cars would all be reversed. That isn't the case, is it?

Well, I guess I'd like it if they had an enduro at most tracks as long as there was only one prize car you could win there.

We don't need to be beating ourselves up trying to get all the prize cars by running enduro after enduro.

On the other hand, I've never been obsessive enough to win all the cars, while you, p2, have. So maybe it would be good to have an enduro for each of the 100 tracks with 4 prize car position for each one, just to drive you insane.

    Here's an odd factoid.

At 25% you unlock the replay called "mismatch"

It's a race between a Mini and an F094 at Grand Valley. The timer goes off, and the Mini putters on it's way. About a minute or so into the replay, the F1 fires up and streaks away. I'll leave the outcome to you to find.

There was a real life test of a Mclaren F1 versus two mercedes street cars in the same style. The F1 driver sat sipping a cup of coffee and checking his stocks as the other two raced.

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but this little piece of info about GT3 is important to me, at least....

In the garage screen, there's a 2000 Dodge Stratus behind the Viper that's in the foreground, yet the Stratus isn't in the game...wrong place at the right time?

Has anyone mentioned the Monkeys in the tree at Trial Mtn?

Also, I too was a bit bummed that the Stratus wasn't included, but was shown in that pic. What killed me even more was when I downloaded a game save and realized that I'd been mis-interpreting the "Stratos" as "Stratus"
