Official Spot Race rules summary: Race is open to all comers. Event as prescribed by the steward. Entrant must submit his/her time for the prescribed event, before the published closing date and time unless otherwise specified the time given is board time if no time is specified then the closing time is one second before midnight of the date given. Steward will publish: - the race event to be run - restrictions on car type (if any) - restrictions on driving style (if any) - restrictions on practice (if any) - contact details for submissions (email or post to thread). - Closing date Steward will adjudicate any dispute. Steward will post the result. Stewardship of the next race will pass to the last placed non-disqualified finisher other than the steward him/herself. Anyone who has raced F1 or sportcars around the Cote d'Adur track will know how narrow it is. Sadly there is no way to make the track wider because of the ridiculous price of real estate at Monaco. The solution is simple. We'll race narrow cars around the track! Below is the list of eligable cars and their upgrades. All power ratings are for fully run-in cars. Diahatsu Cuore TR-XX Avanzato R. A short car with a long name Mini Cooper 1.3i mini by name and by nature Suzuki Sports Alto Works Suzuki Sports Limited. Another short car with a long name. Most of you should have at least one of these cars in your garage. They're all available as prize cars early in the game, so you won't even have to run them in, unless you sold all three. I'd like to see a balanced field, and all the cars are a similar performance, so we'll try to organise it so we have a system everyone (GB?) can understand. The cars can be picked in groups of three, once all three have been chosen, you can pick from the list again. So GB24hours has picked the Suzuki, Santiago22 has the Diahatsu and Boatdriver has gone for the Mini. Next round, rikki has chosen the Suzuki. Extra rule: At any time someone can nominate the steward for a car in order to influence the car they get. Settings: TCS and ASM at your discretion. The Race: Arcade / Free run. Laps must be 100% wall-free. Discussion: You are free to discuss settings, cars and T2 times. [edit] Cars chosen rikki - Suzuki. eggmann - Mini Der Alta - Mini [This message has been edited by WasteGate (edited 09-03-2004).] IP: Logged |

I thought the rules were quite clear! Tuscan S understood them, and in his second language too ![]() I've modified the rules to make them retrospectively fit what people have already chosen. Just wait 'till I run my next Spot Race - nobody is going to understand that one IP: Logged |

I understood the rules just fine.... but I figured people would just waste too much time pussyfooting around.... in effect, nobody was going to start things off. So I sort-of forced the issue. ![]() If the Steward wants to revert to the original rules and make people tow the line, then I think that is within his right. IP: Logged |

How about getting a steward to post one specific car, instead of trying to get a varied field by posting 3 to 5 cars and asking people to make sure all of them get picked. I thought the point of competition was to win.

Welcome to the Numbers spot races Famine, hope you have fun. You should find it a little less intense than much of the racing at GTP, our races are often quite lighthearted. I'm happy to go with the flow as far as car selection goes. All three cars are now available as we've just completed a set. IP: Logged |

WARNING OFF-TOPIC RAMBLING Hello Famine. Nice to see you again my friend. Heard anything from Duke, Alex or Sage lately (the WRL seemed to have flatlined as of a post (by you)) quite a while ago)? The last I heard of Gil was that he took part in one of those 'I-link' competitions they've been having in America - he seemed to enjoy himself thoroughly Bad news about GTP - I hope they get it sorted out (and maybe it'll bump start us into getting the WRL moving again). Anyhow, I'd better duck out before someone makes me drive a low HP FF car (bet they'd make it a YELLOW one too LOL). OFF-TOPIC RAMBLING ENDS ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: I think it was the magic phrase "Special Stage Route 11 Reverse" that did it - one of my favourite tracks in the game as you probably know. Bunch of Jessies... But no - not a peep. Duke and Sage seem to have lost all interest in the fun part of the game. Perhaps their interest will be rejuvenated when GT4 comes out, and we can cane them live ------------------ IP: Logged |

Actually, We ran a no holds barred I-link race at the Test Course in the TS020. The first 4 laps averaged 211mph with everyone drafting each other, until we got to the final lap. Everybody slowed dowm, 180 mph, trying to avoid being in 1st or even 3rd place. Slowpoke was laying in 4th with just the final turn to go but I managed slow enough to get behind him and drafted all three cars to get the win by .2xx something. It was a blast! ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: Yep - Wastegate had a 12-driver no-holds barred TS020 iLink championship. I came 3rd In the first race, daan got dropped off the back of the pack and just couldn't catch up. So he span it around and went the other way. I was spectating, so saw it coming (and kept my mouth shut). None of the other drivers did until it was too late. Closing speed of 400mph... On my first race (my first "race" with a wheel too), two people did the same thing, and I managed to weave between them - about 2 seconds apart - so they took out the person behind me... After the morning of iLink - and the two heart attacks I nearly had - it was quite a welcome diversion ------------------ IP: Logged |

Another GTP refugee washes up on the beach. We've got to quit meeting like this! ![]() If I've interpreted the rules correctly, car choice is open for the tenth driver. In that case, I'll give the Suzuki a go. @ GT3mich: It's a pity your gracious offer was not accepted. Perhaps karma ain't entirely hypothetical. I'm not going to run the WRS for him. The series relies on pm submition, not email, so now its too late to email everyone that was racing. It will just have to wait until GTPlanet gets back up. Kent may not even know why GTPlanet is down. I do thanks to Famine. Next time plan ahead. I tried. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I hate to do this, but with preparations for Hurricaine Frances going on, I'm pretty sure my plans of running this on Friday night are out the window. Apologies to WasteGate for barging in here, messing up his rules, and then turning tail to leave. Not very cool on my part. IP: Logged |

GTP Newflash: There's a temporary forum, accessible through the http://www.gtplanet.org/ link, which contains a little bit of news (and a great deal of spam... I'll pretend to be shocked later). Jordan may be able to get hold of his new server in the next day or so, but GTP will be a month-old backup. Anyway... back on-topic... Are we allowed/encouraged/invited to discusss our T1/2/3 split times here? I've done a few runs and got a lap with about a second to shave off it. Learns how to read... Hmm. T2 time is in the region of 1'25.0. Anyone else? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Famine (edited 09-01-2004).] IP: Logged |

Ever have that feeling you left a town full of good people to head out to the big city? Had a blast while you were there, and didn't miss the slow and easy attitude of the town. Only to take a trip back in the near future and wondered why you ever left? In other words, I'm hoping to jump in here and steward a race or two. If HareTurtle picked the Suzuki, that means I have a choice of the Diahatsu or the MIni? If so, I'll take the mini. Off topic... Sukerkin, glad to see your still around. Life on my part has been a tad busy. In order to catch up on everything I need to get done, I'd have to give up anything I enjoy doing. Hope all is well, See you out there. AO IP: Logged |

I can crack through in 1'24s now, with high 31s for the T1. Although looking at the stats, I've got the car with the most power AND highest PWR. But you picked first so :P ------------------ IP: Logged |

Took two runs at it this morning before leaving for work. First run was in teh 1'29 range, the next run was in the 1'27 range. IT's a change to shift from UB's high powered FR cars to a low powered FF car. Can you say "tickle" the throttle? If this weekend is more open (except for Sunday afternoon: hint, instant race) I''l get a few more laps in. AO IP: Logged |

Having a fun go at this. Been a while since I've had the chance to enjoy a race. Quick update 32.371, 1'26.259. I've surpassed my expected time, so I've set the bar a bit higher now. More to come... AO IP: Logged |
