My calender says it still is FALL! (although the 2degree F windchill and wafts of snow disagree) Car choice may be kept secret until the deadline. Sorry, but the Speed 12 had to go, it wasnt doing anyone favors. I decided this after stumbling on Dango's comments form over a year ago where he said it was STILL the fastest car there. Unfortunately, I think it only served to decrease parity. Tracks are tigher overall, but still not bad enough to rule out the Jag or Lister. Known issues: I dont know if anyone wants to run it, and i'm working on a time submition form. [This message has been edited by Psyfalcon (edited 12-03-2003).] IP: Logged |

Consider me in....and the big ol Tickford seems like it might be fun. 'Course, I'll probably get romped. Just noticed something, though. Are we allowed to add any more mods to the car, or run as is aside from tires? ------------------ IP: Logged |

You only get tires. The Tickford is not a match for the other cars. I put it in there for Moppie, (i think it was him). He got blasted last year. IP: Logged |

I'm running! Q1: What's to stop me running my sprint first? Q2: Will we have limited track test/set-up time as last season? 'part from that I'm good to go. Tour on! IP: Logged |

I may have to check if I have any of those cars... This is the first time in weeks I've seen something that make me want to load up GT3. ------------------ Button's Brigade - The track is ours. I don't think I took part last time, so 'scuse a couple of questions ... - What's the worn-down NA1 power for the Calibra - Do we choose one car for the season? Or a different car each week? Or a free choice of same car or different car each week? - Dango, what is your prediction, fastest to slowest, for these cars? IP: Logged |

Last year we all ran the same car and from what I remember practice was limited to 20 laps including qualifying laps. I'm thinking about using the GT-40 this time. We'll see after some testing first. This time I have my wheel.. ------------------ IP: Logged |

It goes without saying that I'll be up for this one .Not positive what car I'll pick yet ... mmm, the Jag I won in last time ... tempting but it could be time for something different. The Speed 12 then? Nope, banned for being too sexy (I shall refrain from any comments about anti-TVRism of course, as such acid-tongued behaviour just wouldn't be English ;P). The Astra ... mmm ... no, been driving that one a lot lately (in my "100% Run"). CLK? Like it and haven't really used it all that much so it'd be fun to dial in. A definite maybe. The Lister? That one is a nice challenge to tune up as it teeters on the knife edge of understeer and snap-oversteer when the HP is ramped up. Stock she may be tamer. Another good possible candidate. Still, plenty of time to decide yet. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm in too, though I may not make every race. I have the luxury of knowing I'm not competitive, so I can drive any car that catches my fancy without wondering whether it will hurt my place in the standing. I already know my place in the standings. ![]() I'm not too hot on the Astra, only because I've driven it more than other cars, some of which I've never driven at all. The rest are all possibilities. From the horsepower listed and the competition, I assume the GT-40 is the GT-40 Race Car, not the GT-40 road car? IP: Logged |

Gt 40 racer, wings for everyone ![]() Calibra, worn down, not sure... I'll look it up later. One car for the whole season Myself, I'm leaning to the GT40 or Jag. Or maybe that Calibra if I want 4wd... IP: Logged |

I was snooping through the old posts to find what Dango posted (I ran an Astra in that race). I couldn't find any of the old race results. I was hoping to run the CLK because of the glamour of driving a Mercedes & going to the company parties with Kimi & D.C. IP: Logged |

Could we run and submit these races early? I'll be well away from my PS2 for the first part of January. May I submit all races times by the end of December? Edit: 1. The sprint and feature race times are due at the same time? 2. Is there another thread/MB for this series or is this it? [This message has been edited by JT (edited 12-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

Each week the race is run in two parts. Sprint is run in Arcade/Normal/100% clean/unlimited attemps. The other half is longer and can only be run one time. When the green light goes off, run until your finished. Psyfalcon will have to fill you in on the penalties for offs in the longer race. I don't remember because it wasn't an issue the last time around. You can do all the practice that you want but not with tire wear. That, you will have to decide on before you make your run. Please post if you need more clarification. Welcome to the "Numbers" Kent. Also, save your replays just in case. ------------------ IP: Logged |

To further elaborate Kent, you'll have to have the car you want to use in your garage so it can be tuned the way you want it for the race. You don't use the arcade cars, even though it's run in arcade mode. Run as cleanly as possible I take to mean avoid contact with the other cars when possible, and try to keep off the walls and keep at least 2 tires on the track at all times. If you screw up though, keep going and don't worry about it. Just report it with your time. As for practice, the series site says only practice on other tracks besides where the race is held, but from Psy's later comments here I think you can practice on the same track in free run, just so long as you don't run anything with tire wear there. You can apparently run on other tracks to test tire wear. But does that mean we can't test for tire wear on any of the 5 tracks where we'll be racing? I'd guess that's what it means, but hopefully Psy will confirm. The feature race is in arcade single race professional mode (hold down L1 and R1 on the screen where you select between easy, medium and hard to get the professional option). That is a one try only event. The final race, it looks like he made a mistake on. What does Arcade Hard All Japan mean Psy? I suspect he was aiming for Simulation mode professional league All Japan Championships, but I'm sure he'll clarify. I frankly don't know what his special sprint with no tire wear means though. At first I thought he meant the last race was going to be Arcade Single Race Hard, instead of Pro, which would mean no tire wear. But since it says All Japan that isn't right. Psy? Ask more questions if you have them Kent. I'm sure we forgot to say something. And welcome to the Numbers. [This message has been edited by Nightcrawler1 (edited 12-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

Penalties for offs were not an issue last time, and they wont be this time. There arent any. If its bad enough I may throw out your run and give you 0 points, but thats for some rather bad driving during the feature raace. Where did I ever say anything but unlimited practice? You can practice on any track for tunings sake. I assumed this would be done in free run Tire testing is an entirely different thing altogether. You cant do any tire wear on TM, DF, SS5WET, Seattle or Apricot before your Feature race, nor can you run their reverses with tirewear on. NC, are you seeing that table right? Theres a line inbetween ARCADE HARD and All Japan indicating one is the sprint race and the other is the Feature (if this is a website issue... gahhhh....) IP: Logged |

For Mands and others interested in digging up the history of how the last one of these went I've sought out the following info:- Here's a link to the starting discussions for the last Touring Car Series. http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum31/HTML/000911.html And the offial thread of the series: http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001209.html These are setups that NumbOne posted up for that series http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum31/HTML/000926.html And here was my attempt to get everyone to post up their settings so we had an archive of the series runners tunings (failed by the way http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001244.html The following are links to the weekly results from the last series: http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001214.html http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001222.html http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001227.html http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001239.html http://www.granturismobynumbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001241.html ------------------ IP: Logged |

Purely because I love the sound, one more GT40 entry here. ![]() EDIT: Tire choice is up to the driver, so that means T8s for races without tire wear - or do you have to use the same rubber as in the main events? [This message has been edited by Dango (edited 12-05-2003).] IP: Logged |

I plan on using the GT-40 NC1. I'm just not going to run that race right away. I'll wait until that week before I run it. It wouldn't matter anyway. I've run that race at Trial Mountain/Sim/Pro in a Diablo Series 30+ times last week. I already know which cars pit and when. I don't think you should exclude yourself either. Any advantge you will have gained will be lost if you if you wait to run it like me. Also, I already knew what tires I was going to use in a 15 lap race anyway and after racing 10 tracks and over 500 miles in a little over a day, Its all kind of blurry ------------------ IP: Logged |

I finished the series with the GT-40, which netted me the Caribra I desired. (Actually I'd have been happy with either the Caribra or the XJ220 Race Car, since I didn't have either) I took the Caribra out for a couple of laps and was reasonably impressed with it. 16,000 rpm redline, and it seemed pretty stable, which is a plus for me. But I had T5s on, so it it might be considerably more twitchy with T2s. But I really want to aquire a Storm to try before I make any decisions. If it is reasonably easy to drive I might go with that. I'm not really worried about whether the car is slow or fast, I'm more interested in it being a car I haven't driven much that is fun, and hopefully not one of the more popular entries. I should get plenty of time to test my options this weekend since it looks like we'll be snowed in. I'm leaning away from the GT-40 anyway, just because I've driven it a fair amount already. Dango's right though, it does sound great. Perhaps the best sounding car in the game (though I like the high pitched whine of the 787B too). hmm...what to do? Stick with the old team, and try to improve, they offered a ride in an older 4-wheel drive car, my choice. Mercedes maybe,Tickford, Storm, naa Jag more fun than the Merc. Completely jump ship GM to Ford? The local colors here are orange and blue. Do like last season and go with the most popular ie. more "direct" competition. See ya at the track. IP: Logged |
