OK, thanks Jim. I have my doubts that Psy will get a new e-mail address at this late date, but it can't hurt to be safe.

As far as looking, let's say it wouldn't help you much. It may even get you overconfident.

Seattle is the last arcade feature race.

Because I have the AI so much lately, you can qualify in the other features with one restriction.

Tire wear is ON during qualifying. So to prevent undue knowledge of tirewear, qualify on T8s and get out of there as quickly as possible after getting pole. Then remember to put your correct tires on and go race as normal.

This strategy is n/a in the saloon class cars, methinks! No car seems slow compared to my Astra. I can make 5th place by the hairpin, but then have to back out to 6th to stay clean.

Fair point, P2. I've just been trying the XR8 for a guest entry - the things we have to do to please Moppie - and have failed to make a totally clean opening lap. If you try the inside they push you into the wall, the outside they push you into the wall on the exit. And you can't go around line astern in the pack without being hit from behind.

I gave up, and have a wall-free but 2xAI hit entry for my guest entry, both of which cost me a 1/10th or so.

Trial Mountain will be fun too, trying to pass the AI on the three flat out sweeps on the opening lap...

Not really knowing what qualifies as a saloon class car, if the Astra is one does that mean the Calibra is also? Because you might be able to get them all by the first turn in the Calibra.

I only tried it 3 times (needless to say I wasn't 100% clean) and was able to pass everyone but the R390 by the first turn. Perhaps with a different field or by getting a better start using a manual tranny, you could get the R390 too.

But of course the Calibra has NA1 while the Astra doesn't.

I've actually grown rather fond of my Calibra. I like the high revving engine and the fact that it is pretty easy to drive.

I've had a pop at this now - just the Sprint so far.

In the slowmo D2 it is possible to tuck into third place by the first hairpin and then slip past into first as you go up the hill.

As long as you don't get tapped by one of the AI as you try to stay in the just big enough gap at the hairpin this way actually not too bad.

I'll have another go or two to see if I can get a bit faster but I think against the revealed glory of the GT40 it's a bit of a hopeless task to try and climb any higher than fifth .

Nice work Nightie and Sukey! I can't live with either of those ... I managed a win in the sprint with 100% clean, but I didn't get into the lead until a hair-raising pass at the hairpin 2nd time round. Didn't manage a win in the feature race. Still, look on the bright side: I'll still get the points for showing up; and I don't earn a stewardship for this one!

I have to say that I'm quite getting to like the way the DTM handles; very balanced once you dial the moderate understeer out of her. It's just a shame that it's not fast enough in the company of the GT40 brigade.

I think I'm gonna drop out. I've really lost the fire for OLR in general. Maybe when GT4 hits, I might get back in, but right now I just don't have the burning desire for it anymore.

Round 2 updated

Round 3

Sorry NC1, but you whacked the wall in the sprint race in the last lap after saying you had no AI contact after lap 1....

Good runs all - I finished where I expected to so not too disappointed.

Are you really running a CLK Dango - or is that just a slip on 'Psy's part? If so, then I am monstrously impressed (and depressed ) that you can make four seconds a lap on me :O!

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't even thinking about that.

I clearly should have either spent more time or less time on that race. Why put in any time at all to get zero points?

Dango, if that run was really in the CLK - and round 2 as well, then I'll take my hat off to you. I'll also take off any other item of clothing you want

Seriously I think I sneaked this one by having a great set-up after spending quite a bit of time practicing and tuning. Even then it was pretty close.

Since I've recently received an X-Port (thanks Santa , glad to see you read the Numbers) I've created a web page and put up my two sprint races. I didn't put up the Feature because I hit so many walls it was embarrasing

WasteGate webpage

@Moppie, it feels great to beat those little Euro-boxes with a proper V8 touring car, and it only took the best part of a 200bhp advantage to do it.

Having watched the replay of the Falcon XR8 again, I've come to the conclusion that it is indeed a Taxi, for the following reasons:
1) It didn't use its indicators once
2) It was quite prepared to bump ditherers out of the way
3) It went around the block several times

I didn't really feel like running this week's race, but I'm glad I did. Both halves were a blast! Without the GT-40 and matching skill to just run away from the AI cars, I had tons of fun racing them neck and neck the whole way.

Unfortunately the cleanest sprint I can manage still has an AI contact. I'm not really sure where to pass the R390 (or 787B) cleanly. They brake for that final chicane so I have the speed to get them there, but I can't seem to get through without contact.

On my best run the R390 clipped my rear end as I was almost past him making the left at the end of the back straightaway.

You have to latch onto the draft of one of those rockets down that back straight to have any hope of staying with them.

Nightie, I seem to recall that Psy was sanguine about a little bit of AI contact if it was AI's fault and of no advantage to you, so I think you're OK there; as long as you didn't touch the wall. Oh, and by the way, might I suggest not submitting a replay unless you get called for one?

I'm struggling to fit this in today ... I have to squeeze a clean run in between a 3+ hour movie at the cinema and a birthday outing to a restaurant for my dad-in-law's birthday. So it might not be my best round of the series ...

I made sure I was wall clean this time.

I didn't send a replay last time, just an overly honest run down of my incidents.

Return of the King perhaps? That was enjoyable. I even left work early one day so we coould catch the 5:00 showing and avoid having to stay out with the kids until 11:30 to see it.

I was running out of time for this one as well, so the Feature was a bit of a rush job, and it showed.

In order to keep the car nice and steerable on the tighter turns, it became a frightening oversteer monster on the 5th gear stuff. (The GT40 Race Car only has 5 gears and brakes from a Citroen 2CV).
