Alright, so there is a limit on the number of times you can actually run the course we decide to race. (correct) How can we actually go about verifying that a race is the runners first run? Is it just an honor system? Next... The free run? Thats unlimited, tire choice... all that stuff... It's just a normal hotlap with a your car of choice setup to your liking. Cool, then I suppose I am in. I've been looking for a way to run the clk for some time now. (can it even keep up with a gt40?... I doubt it, but maybe?) When will everything start and be due? thanks again, IP: Logged |

Kent, We go by the honor system here but most of us have either a sharkport or an X-port. If your GoKent from GTPlanet then you have one too and will fit in well here. This series is a two part series. More info can be found here -> http://www.uvm.edu/~cricker/FTCSmain.html

quote: While the second part is one attempt at the race, you can practice all you want on the same track in free run, single race, or whatever, as long as you don't practice in a race with tire wear. You can test for tire wear on a track that isn't being used in this series however. IP: Logged |

Well guys, the series looks great, but Im not one for honor systems. (Ive got an x-port and all that, but...) It would be foolish (imo) to enter this series based on the premise of an honor system. For example. Right now, I have just finished running the gt world championship (pro sim mode) at deep forest in a diablo series at the gtp. This car featured a 2.2 pwr and 539 hp. (through mods from ub57) So where is the honor system for me... I ran that course a ton and know the ins-and-outs of the race itself to no end. I learned it in a car with comparable hp & pwr, as well as on a date that was within the last 3 weeks. So I ask, where does the honor system leave me? (I would say standing in the center of a loop-hole) Thanks for letting me get in on this, and be sure to remember that I will have an eye on you guys to see where I stack up... but officially competing, thats on you guys alone. Maybe I will get another chance sometime to run the clk... or maybe the next round in this series if its at a track that I can run without ethical dilemmas. Would it be ok for me to come back after df? Are there long term standings points? Thanks again, IP: Logged |

Kent, I think your being a bit hard on yourself. There is no way that Psyfalcon would have known about the Diablo series unless he was checking GTPlanet. These kind of issue's have happened before. The last time we ran this there was a Spot race going at the same time at the same track. Not only will you miss out on Deep Forest but also Trial Mountain and Apricot Hill. The Honor system that we adhere to is two wheels on the track no wall banging or benefit from AI contact. I have yet to see anyone here abuse those rules. What would be the point anyway. So race if you want. I know that I am racing in this series and if you do it will only make it better. There are only so many tracks in GT3 after all and its all about having fun. ------------------ [This message has been edited by GT3mich (edited 12-08-2003).] IP: Logged |

Kent, you're quite right! Given the $10,000 prize that Psyfalcon has agred to stake for this series, it's too open to cheaters. What? He didn't put up a prize? Aw, shucks. Kidding aside, there are a couple of things to consider.... 1. Of all the people posting on this thread, there isn't one who hasn't run hundreds of laps at all the courses in GT1/2/3. 2. No prize = no meaningful reason to cheat. 3. This is the numbers The honour system here means the following: Rule 1: You try to make a fair run as prescribed by the rules. Rule 2: If you think you have some unfair advantage, just state it, and let the steward decide; nothing you have said has indicated you have any advantage over all the other guys here, especially 'Mich who is a fellow 'devil' of yours. But anyway, I didn't see a Diablo on the Touring Car list, so I think you're safe!

I nominate player2 for the next bridge position when GB needs to fill one. I couldn't have said it better. BTW, between the two game saves that I've done since I bought GT3 18 months ago, I have driven 70,000 miles and that doesn't include all the miles that weren't saved. And I have a replay from Mr. Dango before he moved back to Germany that I view from time to time. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Alright guys... yeah yeah, I think I get it. I'm not even going to do well with any of this race. Im not good enough to start with, then add on the fact that I am begining one of those burn-out phases (on gt3) and the results are bad times for me. I will get back with some work towards this race when I can, but at the moment dec. 13 is looking like a major date for me, so I can't garuntee anything. Till next time. IP: Logged |

Do try your best to join in Kent by the way; as has already been said so succinctly, we've all run the tracks thousands of times so a little extra recent practice doesn't make all that much difference. The intent of any Numbers series is just to do the best you are able to, in the time you have, abidng by the code that if you wouldn't consider it cheating if someone else did it then it's probably okay (just ask the race organiser to be sure tho'). ------------------ IP: Logged |

Guys, As instigator of WW III, chief protagonist in the last GTF Wars, and first proponent of WW IV, I have to say I think you're all completely nuts to try to give me power to go with the attitude! Sukey, I'm only O/L 24/7 because I have no gainful employment. Hopefully that will change before we get evicted, in which case I will still be here, but not quite so much of the time! 'Mich, that looked like beer! I can not wait to find some reason to meet up and collect it. How are your Deutsch plans coming on? Or should I tag along on one of my wife's business trips to the Northern States? p2 IP: Logged |

We're staying put for another few years. She turned down that position because it would have involved soooo much travel that we the rest of us wouldn't have to move. I'll keep a beer in the fridge with your name on it. ![]() ------------------ IP: Logged |

I for one, would back your campaign for Prime Minister, P2, or at least to be a GTBN mod Count me in for this series guys, I've been away from my PS2 for too long (nearly a week) and need to get some action. I can't decide on a car yet. I want to run that old Taxi, but she can be a bit reluctant on the turns and heavy on the tyres. The GT40 is a [pun] sound option [/pun] but a bit too popular already. Maybe one of the British cars, the XJ220 or the Storm can hack it. I think I already have a Storm set up from an old Spot Race. IP: Logged |

Clarification, please, on 100% clean? If you make a clean pass on a straight, then brake for the next corner, and the AI get his revenge by tagging your rear, is that a DQ for that run? (Just a theoretical question for now, as my first sprint attempt involved a bit of gardening anyway.) Edit: Talking of gardening, does 100% clean mean 2 wheels or 4 wheels on? And how about 1.003 wheels on? (You can tell I'm struggling already!) p2 [This message has been edited by player2 (edited 12-11-2003).] IP: Logged |

Stay on the track. That is all. 2 wheels is fine. I will never (in this game) madate an AI-less run. Its just too hard with those bastards. Now, play nice with them but dont worry about some contact. Further clarification: AI cars are not brakes or turning rails. But I'd certainly nudge one off my line IP: Logged |

quote: That doesn't sound 100% clean to me I might just enter the big old Taxi in this one, it's not as outclassed as I'd thought in the Sprint, but it'll struggle in the Feature race since it might need a harder tyre than the other cars. Anyone who would like XR8 settings please mail me today or Friday, and I'll pass them on. IP: Logged |

I'm glad to hear this about the AI, I had a few like P2 said, but I got 3 100% clean all within 1 sec of each other. Glad I still got a couple of days on this one, is it 23:59.59 saturday board time? IP: Logged |

Well even I managed a couple of fully clean sprint runs ... if "one and a bit wheels on" is OK? IP: Logged |

I know what you mean by one-and-a-bit wheels there, P2. I've had to ignore runs where one of my front wheels has stayed on the track, but the rears have been off lawnmowing. That's when you realise you've taken off a bit too much rear downforce. At least even Psy doesn't expect us to be able to run the 10 lapper without some kind of unintentional indiscrection. OK, I finished round 1. For the sprint, I ran a run that's as good as I am likely to get this side of New Year, so I'll call that a wrap. Of course, if I knew how to tune ... For the feature race, I ran a run, and that's it. I'd do better if I ran it again, but for me it was pretty clean; just a 4kph rock touch on one lap and a back wheels off on the last lap when the tyres were going off in the other sense. My free run practice lap was a 1'10.243, but I found it more difficult with tyre wear on! p2 IP: Logged |

Times are going in. I got a nice clean sprint run, about as fast as I'll ever get. Wish I could say the same about the feature which was a bit scrappy, though I didn't hit the same piece of wall or bank twice. There were even a couple I didn't hit once. It started with AI trouble (grrrr)almost spinning me at turn 1. I just hope I can beat the current No1 driver around here at the moment, vis-a-vis Mr Player2. His list of scalps recently is impressive reading... IP: Logged |

You guys had me worried that I had the wrong date since you're all submitting times, but I have all day tomorrow to get them in. I've got my Caribra worn down to 564 hp now, but after driving it 586 miles to do it, making it the 4th highest mileage car I own, the novelty of driving a car I'd never driven before is gone. Since I haven't actually run a single lap of practice for this week's race yet, I guess it wouldn't really hurt me to switch to the Storm. I'll consider it. But the Caribra is easy to control. I will have to see if the same can be said of the Lister. [This message has been edited by Nightcrawler1 (edited 12-13-2003).] IP: Logged |

Of all the cars listed I actualy only own the XR8 and the CLK, so I took grabed a brand new XR8, yes its 16 less hp to play with but it also means a freash start settings wise, and I dont have to worry about it losing hp as the series goes on. It also put its jusrt in in the list when i run an acrade race and practice. Oh, and Iv just drunkl a bottle og wine, hence the speeling and why I ran it today, bien the 13th here, but the 12 there, and the 14th here tomorrow when I could have run it, but had it in on the 13th, (confused yet?) and it would have been run with a ganh over to get it in before the cut off time, withch is some time on the 14th, which is realyy the 13th.
